We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new logo and website for our client, Essential Water Solutions, Inc. A small business with an international reach, EWS has distributors selling it’s products for water treatment to residential, industrial and agricultural customers in need of cleaner water.

Wordpress web design for Story City business

Essential Water Solutions came to us with the desire to move away from an outdated Joomla website and into a new CMS. We provided guidance and training to help them leverage the power of WordPress and the many custom plugins available. This has proven to be very valuable and flexible to meet the needs of their online presence.

In addition to providing a solid, user-friendly CMS, we also worked to redesign the company logo and visual identity of their website. We tried to convey cleanliness and clarity in a clean vector-based shape that illustrates the power of their products – a droplet into an existing water source. This mark now serves to strengthen their brand with their audience and is used across many mediums within the company such as business cards, e-newsletters and other printed and digital marketing materials.

New brochure and Halloween inspired logo design

November 16th, 2012  / Author: admin

This past October we were asked to help out our friends at Three Chicks Bakery with two new design projects and we enthusiastically accepted. The first project was to design a brochure that would highlight their products, services and contact information.  The brochure had to be fun, colorful and informative.  Three Chicks Bakery spends hours meticulously working on their products and we wanted to give the same amount of attention to the brochure.  We wanted the brochure to appeal to both the younger and older generation, so we decided to use the board game “Candy Land” as our motivation.  The brochure opens up to a whole board game filled with custom illustrations.  Say goodbye to the Candy Cane Forest and say hello to the Cake-Pop Forest.

The second project was a lot of fun to work on as well.  Our task was to transform the Three Chicks Bakery logo and give it a Halloween theme, similar to what Google does on its homepage for special events and holidays.  We decided that each “chick” would have a different costume on.  The witch and mummy were classic and easy to come up with, but the third we chose a zombie, because, come on, zombies are so hot right now.

Slow-Smoked Goodness

This year has been a very productive and positive year for our young company. We were lucky enough to have a chance at pitching our services to a well known Des Moines area restaurant, Jethro’s BBQ. Jethro’s has become synonymous with Des Moines, and was the spotlight of both Man vs Food and the Travel Channel’s manliest restaurants. Since opening only three years earlier, these are great accomplishments, and a signal of their success.

Needless to say, we were very eager to provide an awesome website design and have Jethro’s as our newest client. We met with Jethro’s management team, showcased our past work, and pitched how we could provide the right tools and a unique design to highlight the ambiance of the Jethro’s experience. Our ideas won out, and we started working almost right away. Ideas were bouncing around, back and forth, and finally onto our canvas. What we ended up with really highlights what it’s like to eat at Jethro’s.

Jethro's Des Moines BBQ Restaurant

  • Shellacked Plywood
  • Neon Lights
  • Corrugated Steel
  • Sauce Bear Containers
  • Iconic Blue Plates
  • And of course, Jethro himself!

After designing, refining, and presenting to the management team, everyone was thrilled with the concept we presented. We worked closely to fine tune every detail, including photo galleries, custom illustration of the famous Emmenecker Challenge sandwich, custom illustration of each building location and map of Des Moines, video encoding and publishing of TV and video content, interactive menu displays, a complex and detailed catering calculator, and a simple/fast/concise mobile website. Whew, that’s alot!

Just like a good rack of ribs, it takes time, but the final product is worth the wait. We’d love for you to try the new www.jethrosdesmoines.com!
